NEW BUSINESS
Outside of items listed under Council Action, the following New Business was brought forth:
· Quotes for tree removal at 2016 Trinity Street were included in the council packet. The tree in question straddles the address and un-platted right-of-way. The limbs extend into the road right-of-way, creating an issue for the town. Council members can choose to pay for the tree removal and stump grinding in full; share the cost with the property owner(s); or vacate the right-of-way and make the property owner responsible for the removal. Town Attorney Mike Hawk said the town is working with the Department of Planning services on compiling a full listing of right-of-way that the town could vacate. Council members wanted to wait and see how much right-of-way could be vacated before deciding.
REPORTS
Tina McDonald had the following report:
· McDonald thanked Engineering Resources for the work they have done with the town’s water and wastewater utilities, which was highlighted in the recent comprehensive analysis from BCS Management.
Brandon Seifert had the following report:
· He met with Lana Beregszazi of BCS Management Group to go over the Comprehensive Utility Analysis. He wants the town to consider re-commissioning its old water plant to help with water quality and water pressure complaints he has received from residents. He would also like to look into water softening at the town’s water plant. Derek Frederickson said that some of the pressure issues may be a result of the new water tower going online and some communication issues still needing worked out between the town’s three towers. He would like to wait about 4-6 weeks and if the issues aren’t fully resolved, then the town will look into it. He also said the town deemed water softening to be too expensive a few years back, but the town could revisit the issue as it looks to build a new water treatment plant.
Resource Officer Brandon Reichert had the following report:
· He applauded the Huntertown Heritage Days Festival committee for a fantastic festival.
Clerk-Treasurer Ryan Schwab had the following report:
· He reported that the town has been issued a new field representative from the Department of Local Government Finance and that some changes to the budget schedule may be coming. He hopes to keep the same schedule but will update the council once he gets in contact with the new field rep.
Representative of Engineering Resources Inc. had the following report:
· Derek Frederickson provided the council with an updated summary of the capacity at the Huntertown Water and Wastewater plants. He noted that the town took on twenty-six new customers in July.
Mike Hawk of Hawk Haynie Kammeyer & Smith had no report.
