Wastewater Treatment Plant
The Town of Huntertown’s Wastewater Treatment Plant is a Class 3, Activated Sludge plant that was placed into operation in March of 2018. The plant includes a mechanical bar screen, grit removal system, orbal oxidation ditch, two secondary clarifiers, tertiary sand filter, UV disinfection system, post aeration tank, two aerobic sludge digesters, and centrifuge for de-watering digested sludge.
The treatment plant is designed for a daily flow of 1.5 million gallons per day with a peak flow of 3 million gallons per day. The plant operates on 100% biological nutrient removal to meet effluent limitations and compliance with IDEM.
Huntertown’s wastewater is pumped from 16 lift stations thru approximately 46 miles of gravity sewer lines and 13.5 miles of public force mains to get to the plant.
Plant Operator Darren Dafforn, utility employee Tom Worman, Town Manager Beth Shellman and the Huntertown Utility Service Board all over see the general operations of the Wastewater plant system 24-hours a day, 7-days a week to ensure proper operation and compliance with IDEM.
